Solico Metal is proud to contribute to the Belmont Fieldhouse & Library, a major civic development taking shape in southwest Calgary.
Designed as a shared destination for recreation, learning and community connection, the new facility will include an indoor multi-sport fieldhouse alongside a Calgary Public Library branch.
The project incorporates approximately 1.5 million pounds of steel and includes one of the most technically significant structural installations Solico has undertaken to date.
Solico’s Scope
Working alongside CANA Group of Companies and Canam, Solico’s team has supported the structural steel fabrication and installation package, including complex connection details and the coordination required to deliver large-scale structural components safely and efficiently.

A 254-Foot Unsupported Span
A standout feature of the project is its 254-foot unsupported span, achieved without intermediate supports.
The long-span double-assembly system weighs more than 150,000 pounds and required extensive planning across engineering, fabrication, site preparation, temporary support, transportation and erection.
Solico successfully completed the first critical lift following more than 60 days of coordinated planning with the project team and specialized trade partners.
The result demonstrates the level of precision, preparation and collaboration required to safely install structural components of this scale.
Building for Calgary’s Growing Southwest
Once complete, Belmont Fieldhouse & Library will provide year-round space for sport, recreation, learning and community gathering in one of Calgary’s rapidly growing areas.
The facility will include a multi-sport artificial turf field, viewing areas, dressing rooms and supporting amenities, along with a new public library offering spaces for children, collections, meetings, seating and outdoor learning.
Steel installation is nearing completion as the overall development continues toward its anticipated 2027 opening. We’re proud to help bring this essential City of Calgary project to life.
