Position: Shipping & Receiving Logistics Supervisor

Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Logistics Supervisor to lead our daily distribution operations. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of shipments, manage a dedicated logistics team, and ensure peak efficiency across all shipping and receiving activities. As a key link in our supply chain, you will maintain rigorous safety standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement within a fast-paced, industrial environment.

 

  • Operational Oversight: Supervise daily logistics workflows, including shipping, receiving, and cross-departmental distribution.
  • Shipment Management: Monitor real-time tracking to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of goods; proactively resolve transit delays.
  • Safety & Compliance: Oversee loading/unloading procedures to guarantee personnel safety and cargo integrity; ensure strict adherence to Alberta OHS regulations and company policies.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, schedule, and train logistics staff, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Inventory Integrity: Monitor inventory movement and maintain meticulous records and documentation within our ERP system.
  • Process Optimization: Identify operational bottlenecks and implement effective solutions to enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams, vendors, and carriers to ensure seamless logistics execution.
  • Reporting: Generate comprehensive logistics reports and maintain accurate data within tracking software.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in logistics or supply chain operations, with at least 2–3 years in a dedicated leadership or supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with shipping software, ERP/inventory systems, and Microsoft Office; Forklift Certification is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of loading/unloading procedures, shipment coordination, and logistics documentation.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work comfortably in a noisy industrial/welding environment.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Post-secondary education in Supply Chain/Logistics is considered an asset).
  • Active warehouse and shipping/receiving environment.
  • Regular exposure to industrial noise (welding/manufacturing).
  • Requirement for frequent lifting, bending, and standing.
  • Flexibility for overtime or weekend shifts during peak seasonal periods.
